It seems like I'm always on the hunt for a healthy workout snack that is also tasty. I often need a little bite in between teaching classes, but don't want to have the feeling of a full tummy. I also know it's important to have some sort of protein right after a workout, and this recipe is perfect for both scenarios.
This is as easy as it gets. It's yummy, fast, and has easy-to-find ingredients. Make sure to use semi-sweet or even dark chocolate chips (depending on your preference) since they have less sugar than milk chocolate chips. I keep these power bites in the refrigerator because I like the texture better...
I have many conversations with people about overall wellness, and this comes up more than you'd think. I know that a healthy diet can be challenging to introduce. It takes more time to think through your grocery list and sort through healthy recipes than it does to buy prepared, processed foods. Plus, it's not always as delicious as french fries are. It's already hard, so it can be doubly frustrating if your loved ones (spouse, kids, roommate) aren't thrilled about it. If that strikes a nerve with you, hopefully you'll find some inspiration here to help you make it more fun and appealing to them.
Turmeric is everywhere lately. Curious about including it in your diet? Read on for five sneaky ways to add it to your food, as well as a few super easy and healthy recipes.
Cold winter weather calls for hearty, hot dishes. Here's a recipe of mine that I've played with over the last year or so and finally feel like it's ready for all of you. It's freakin' delicious. Oh baby, is this soup gooooood. The recipe makes a LOT (I'm estimating about 10 servings), so it's a great one to feed a big crowd or to use half of and freeze the other half for a night when you're in a rush.
I'm giving away all my secrets with this post. This recipe is the dish I usually bring to family holiday gatherings and now everyone will know how embarrassingly easy it is. :)
This dish is healthy, so delicious, festive for the holidays, and E-A-S-Y. It's great for the entirety of the fall and winter seasons, but it's perfect for holiday gatherings. Why? Because it's a real crowd pleaser, it's easy for you to make, and it's easily doubled (or tripled!) for a large crowd. Plus, it's healthy and light in the midst of super rich holidays meals.
Crepe-cakes. Because it's not quite a delicate crepe, but not a fluffy pancake either.
In the spirit of all things autumn, here's a healthy recipe for pumpkin spice crepe-cakes! It's also in line with a Paleo diet. Since these are flourless, expect a different consistency than normal pancakes. Instead of flour, these are thickened up with canned pumpkin and eggs, therefore the texture is somewhere in between a crepe and a pancake.
If you like healthy eating and anything pumpkin-spiced, this will be right up your alley. And if you haven't checked out my recipe for a healthier version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, give it a try as well...
There are lots of recipes out there for the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte. I know, because I've looked it up. The closest Starbucks is 40 minutes from my house, so if I want one of these treats, I gotta make it myself. The only problem with the recipes I've found is that most of them require a lot more effort than I’m willing to put in for my morning cup of coffee.
I only drink coffee in the morning, so it goes without saying that I usually don’t have 15 minutes to devote to making this creation, nor do I want to use a coffee maker, saucepan, whisk, blender, etc. and have to clean it all up. All this BEFORE coffee? Can’t do it. Here’s MY take on a homemade PSL... quick and easy.
Summertime blackberries are such a treat! Our blackberry "patch" is overflowing right now, and in an effort to eat as many as possible, I've been looking up some different ways to use them. This salad is so, so, so simple and easy. It's perfect for a hot summer day, and it took me less than 10 minutes to throw it all together...
I'm so giddy over figuring out a fast and EASY way to make kale chips. I first made kale chips 8 or 9 years ago when it was a new trend. At that time, the recipes I tried took too long and were a major pain to actually prepare, make, and clean up. Naturally, I stopped making them because they required too much effort. I decided to try it again recently because we had a TON of kale in our garden and I needed a way to use it. I am super excited to present to you a very healthy, tasty, easy, and fast way to make these beauties, and with minimal cleanup...
Even if you don’t like traditional curry dishes, give these fries a try. I don't have a huge sweet tooth so most of the sweet potato recipes that use sugar and cinnamon throw me off. This is more of a savory side dish and is so delicious for us savory/salty lovers. It's also easy, a great fall and winter side dish, and a healthier alternative to regular french fries. They are savory, zesty, and good with or without the dipping sauce listed here. I have also used good ol’ ketchup with these...
